Safe Shopping with MainStreet Libertyville
by Colie Gutzler, MainStreet Libertyville Social Media Volunteer

MainStreet Libertyville is looking forward to seeing you and the family out and about to enjoy a fun and safe shopping environment for all. While visiting the stores to support our small businesses, everyone can practice the following tips for the safety of yours and others:

1. Wear a mask;
2. Don’t touch your face;
3. Stand six feet away from fellow shoppers;
4. Bring your own pen to sign your receipts ;
5. Use hand sanitizer or wash your hands often;
6. Try to touch as little possible in the store unless you plan to buy it; and
7. Have patience and be kind to others— we’re all a little stressed out.

In addition to the tips above, we spoke with some business owners in downtown Libertyville to see what they’re doing for their patron’s safety.

The 847 Running Company has rearranged its space to accommodate multiple socially-distanced seating stations, allowing for safe fittings and shopping. You can also call the store to set up an appointment for shoe fittings. Speaking of appointments, they are strongly encouraged and appreciated. Curbside pick-up and off-site, social-distanced fittings are also offered.

Shop early on Thursdays at How Impressive! Be first in line to shop the freshly-cleaned store at 9:00 a.m. Stop in before or after you visit the Libertyville Farmers Market, or call the shop to schedule a private, one-on-one shopping appointment. In addition to multiple health and safety measures taken during the day, the shop is thoroughly cleaned every night. Online shopping fans can purchase their true favorites at How Impressive! and request a no contact pick-up at the shop’s back door.

Libbyville Lifestyle Boutique is cleaned multiple times each day. After each transaction, the POS (point of sale) system and counters are all wiped down and sanitized. To help you avoid one of the most-touched spots in stores, they are leaving their front door open so you don’t have to touch it—and you can enjoy the beautiful weather. After each use, the fitting rooms are fully cleaned out and sanitized. And each night after closing, they go through and clean every surface and sanitize for the next day. Curbside pick-up is available as well.

A relatively new store to MainStreet Libertyville is Repeat Street, a consignment store. The store still accepts consignments, but only by appointment now. And for those who want to shop in person, you’re welcome to come in! Hand sanitizer is available in the store for patrons, and after each use of their fitting rooms and bathrooms, the areas are cleaned and sanitized. Throughout the day, you will find staff keeping the store clean as they sanitize door handles, countertops and more.
