MainStreet Libertyville Goes Social
An important objective for MainStreet Libertyville was to expand our influence with our members, volunteers and visitors through social media. Thus far, we have
- Refreshed our logo with a new tagline to better explain the focus of the organization
- Launched a vigorous destination marketing campaign
- Designed graphics for a new look for our website, e-mail newsletter and print marketing
Now we are blogging!
Why Blog?
Because it will be about downtown Libertyville, its rich history, its merchants and any current “happenings”. We will also discuss the importance of the MainStreet organization and its past and current impact on the revitalization of the downtown.
For the past 24 years, our partnership with the Village of Libertyville, the tireless efforts of our volunteers and business and residential members have strived to bring vibrancy to the downtown that was sadly lacking when the MainStreet program was begun.
At that time we were launched, the vacancy rate was 30%, the buildings were tired and underutilized and we were not attracting new business.
Today our downtown is alive with activity and a mix of independently owned shops and restaurants, has less than a 10% vacancy rate and our beautifully restored buildings depict their historic character. However, our job is never ending.
