The Heritage District is the hub of MainStreet Libertyville’s 16th Annual Historic Home Tour, highlighting homes from 1905, 1912, 1921, a 150-year-old church and a breathtaking interpretation of a traditional Italian Villa. With all buildings located within about a mile radius, this year’s tour lends itself perfectly to walking or bicycling. Mark your calendar for Saturday, June 8th and experience Libertyville’s rich architectural history firsthand.

Challenge your knowledge of late 19th century and early 20th century architectural features with this year’s showcase of stately and significant buildings. Once inside, you’ll revere in the ways homeowners and architects have transformed these historic spaces to accommodate contemporary living. Enjoy the following sneak peek of this year’s featured buildings. You’ll find a variety of fascinating details throughout the tour.

A local church celebrates its sesquicentennial celebration in a building that melds historic details with modern architecture.

An oeil-de-bouef, or “bulls-eye” window, adds charm to this home.

Leaded glass features add interest to these windows.

A beautiful arched portico adds stately detail to this home from 1921.

Dormers are another key feature of this historic home from 1910.

Historic Home Tour properties will be open from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. on June 8th. Tour tickets are available for purchase in advance for $20 at the MainStreet Libertyville website or from the MainStreet Libertyville Office at 158 Cook Street. Tickets purchased on the day of the event are $25. Wristbands and tour booklets will be distributed in Cook Park on the day of the event, beginning at 9:00 a.m.
